#love this for so many reasons #thor probably just found out that bruce turns into the hulk #and he literally met bruce hours ago #and everyone else who has known bruce just sees him as the hulk #but thor sees him as bruce banner #not the monster #he knows bruce somewhere in there#that the hulk isn’t just a mindless beast #and to make this even more feelsy#this is just like how he treats loki #everyone else sees loki as a psychotic menace #and thor is the only one who tries to reason with him instead of just attacking #this is why i hate it when people say thor is just all muscle and looks #he is so much more #he’s the only one who’s given the ‘monsters’ a chance to redeem themselves #and to me #thats one of the most heroic things someone can ever do
The thing I love about this fight—well, among the many things I love about this fight—is HOLY SHIT LOOK AT THAT SECOND GIF. The Hulk is SMASHING HIS HAND DOWN, that is not a little love tap, that is a full on HULK SMASH bringing his fist down and Thor just fucking stops it WITH ONE ARM. His fucking LEFT ARM, even. I mean, jfc, Thor’s pretty fucking terrifying if he’s fighting hand to hand with the Hulk and fucking spinning him around and stopping a monster punch!
But I also love this scene because, yeah, even as much as it’s clearly REALLY KIND OF FUN for Thor (once he knows he can’t get through to Banner, once the Hulk gets him to bleed even just a little), Thor’s come a long way from that arrogant and reckless prince on Jotunheim. He still enjoys fighting, he thrills at battle, he is still a warrior at heart, he couldn’t live his life without this, he tries to get Banner to calm down, he tries to talk to him first.
But still. JFC LOOK AT HIM HOLDING THE HULK IN PLACE AND STOPPING THAT PUNCH. I dunno about you, but I really, really don’t want to fight Thor or the Hulk.
